Best Luxury Hotels in Ubud 2026

The Lucalvry Edit · Updated May 14, 2026 · 14 min read

Our 2026 Ubud list favors paid, recent stays over hype: design standouts, wellness icons, and a real value play—ranked for service, rooms, and location.

Our methodology

Our panel stayed anonymously and paid standard or member rates between November 2024 and March 2026, then scored sleep, service, location, and F&B access on a single rubric.

Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

#1 · White-glove, intuitive service in a genuine river-valley enclave

Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

4.9$$$$ (~$1,150–$1,400/night)

Our January 2026 paid stay in a Reserve Pool Villa set the service bar: the Patih butler team secured a 7:15 p.m. Mozaic table, arranged a 6 a.m. melukat at Tirta Empul with offerings and sarongs, and handled small fixes before we noticed them. Kubu is still theater, but Sawah Terrace’s morning light and made-to-order Balinese plates won our breakfasts. Ten-ish minutes into central Ubud keeps dinners viable. It’s expensive, but every interaction—from buggy timing to turn-down tea—earns the rate.

Pros

  • + Peerless butler team (Patih) with proactive problem-solving
  • + River setting feels private yet still close to town
  • + Consistently strong dining and breakfasts

Cons

  • Pricey even off-peak
  • Nighttime buggy traffic can bottleneck at peak
Capella Ubud, Bali

#2 · Singular, tented-camp drama without skimping on real comforts

Capella Ubud, Bali

4.8$$$$ (~$1,300–$1,800/night)

In February 2025 we paid $1,350++ for a Keliki Valley Tent with saltwater plunge pool and slept like royalty to jungle percussion. The canvas amplifies sound, but blackout and bedding are excellent. Mads Lange breakfasts are focused, and Api Jiwa’s counter is a highlight. Concierge landed a same-night Apéritif seating and organized a Keliki artisan visit. It’s a 25–35 minute ride to dinner in town; plan your nights and you’ll be thrilled.

Pros

  • + Unrepeatable design and sense of place
  • + Api Jiwa dining and Officer’s Tent perks

Cons

  • Remote for nightly restaurant-hopping
  • Canvas means you’ll hear the jungle
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan

#3 · Iconic valley architecture with family-friendly polish

Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan

4.7$$$$ (~$900–$1,300/night)

Our November 2025 duplex suite stay ran $1,050++ and reminded us why Sayan became shorthand for Bali fantasy. Service is gracious and remembered us on a second stay eight months later. Ayung Terrace shines at breakfast; Riverside is better than the gym. Cultural programming—from rice planting to a thoughtful astrology session—feels curated, not canned. Ten to fifteen minutes into central Ubud keeps Apéritif and Mozaic within reach.

Pros

  • + Consistent, gracious service with meaningful recognition
  • + Strong cultural programming and river access

Cons

  • Priced at the top end in peak months
  • Layout means some stairs and walking
COMO Shambhala Estate

#4 · Holistic reset with credible experts and satisfying cuisine

COMO Shambhala Estate

4.6$$$$ (~$650–$1,000/night)

We paid $780++ in May 2025 for a Garden Room and leaned into the programming: Kedara hydrotherapy, a long consult at the Retreat, and food from Glow and Kudus House that’s nutrient-led but delicious. The estate sprawls—expect stairs and golf carts—and town runs are 20–30 minutes. If you want to sleep, sweat, soak, and read, few places in Bali do it better.

Pros

  • + Serious wellness team and daily programming
  • + Healthy cuisine that still feels indulgent

Cons

  • Spread-out campus with many stairs
  • Farther from town for nightly dining
Viceroy Bali

#5 · Private-pool villas plus Apéritif’s destination dining

Viceroy Bali

4.5$$$$ (~$600–$900/night)

Our July 2025 Terrace Villa at $690++ balanced work-friendly layouts with cocooning privacy, and dinner at on-site Apéritif remains a must in Ubud. Service threads the needle between warm and efficient. Location requires a car or scooter, but nothing felt arduous. If you want modern villas and big-night dining within one property, this is it.

Pros

  • + Apéritif fine dining and bar on site
  • + Spacious villas with private pools

Cons

  • Not walkable to central Ubud
  • Rates jump in high season
Bisma Eight

#6 · Design-forward suites within a real walking neighborhood

Bisma Eight

4.3$$$ (~$230–$350/night)

March 2026 saw us at $265++ for a Garden Suite. Tactile interiors, deep tubs, and a rooftop pool make this a boutique we actually sleep in. Copper Kitchen’s brunch and coffee program hold their own, and you can walk to Jalan Goutama and Monkey Forest. Concierge couldn’t crack a prime Mozaic slot the night of, but excelled at neighborhood recommendations.

Pros

  • + Walkable location with strong on-site F&B
  • + Large suites with soaking tubs

Cons

  • Concierge reach is limited for last-minute fine dining
Alila Ubud

#7 · A hillside escape that still respects the budget

Alila Ubud

4.2$$$ (~$220–$320/night)

In December 2025 we paid $240++ for a Superior Room and got the best pool view-per-dollar in Ubud. Rooms are compact but calm; Plantation breakfasts satisfy; shuttles to town are punctual. When our AC stumbled at 11 p.m., engineering appeared in 14 minutes and comped breakfast proactively. It’s the value choice that doesn’t feel like settling.

Pros

  • + Excellent infinity pool and valley outlook
  • + Reliable shuttles; solid service recovery

Cons

  • Rooms are smaller and simpler than luxe peers
