About Lucalvry

We Believe Luxury Shouldn't Be a Privilege.

Lucalvry began as a private spreadsheet. A list of hotels, flights, and small experiences our editors had tested and quietly recommended to friends. The list grew. The friends multiplied. Eventually it asked to be a publication.

We are an editorial team obsessed with the seam between aspirational and accessible — five-star feeling, not five-figure pricing. We test independently, pay our own bills, and disclose every affiliate relationship plainly. The work is slower than a content farm. It is also, we think, more useful.

If something is worth your time and money, we'll tell you why. If it isn't, we'll tell you that too. The tagline says it best: luxury, within reach.

What We Cover

Editorial Standards

Every recommendation on Lucalvry is the result of first-hand testing or rigorously sourced research. We do not accept comped stays, sponsored posts, or guest contributions in exchange for placement. Affiliate links are disclosed plainly and never determine which properties make our pages.

Ownership & funding

Lucalvry is an independent editorial publication, wholly owned by its founding editor, Alex Marlowe. It is not owned by, funded by, or operated on behalf of any hotel group, airline, tourism board, booking platform, or private equity holder. Revenue comes from a combination of affiliate commissions on bookings readers choose to make through us and a small number of clearly-labelled brand partnerships that never influence editorial coverage. No investor, partner, or advertiser has a right of review over any piece before publication.

Mission & coverage priorities

Lucalvry covers the affordable-luxury segment of travel: boutique and small-chain hotels, business-class award redemptions, wellness retreats, destination cities, and travel-adjacent gifting. We deliberately do not cover ultra-luxury properties above the $3,000-per-night band, budget travel, mass-market cruises, or all-inclusive resorts — those categories are well-served elsewhere and would dilute our editorial standard.

Diversity policy

Lucalvry is committed to editorial coverage that reflects a global readership. That means reporting from — and hiring editors based in — regions outside the traditional US/UK luxury-media axis, quoting named sources across gender and background, and actively surfacing independently-owned and family-run properties alongside the international chains. Hiring is open to editors of any nationality and background who can meet our verification standards.
