In this round-up

- 2. Anantara Hoi An Resort — Heritage enthusiasts who want to walk to dinner.
- 3. TIA Wellness Resort — Wellness seekers who prioritize inclusions and relaxation.
- 4. Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery — Design-forward travelers and couples seeking romantic atmosphere.

#1 · Absolute privacy and world-class architectural design.
Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai
The Nam Hai remains the undisputed heavyweight of Hoi An. Its Gathy-designed villas are masterpieces of symmetry and space. During our stay, our villa attendant, Linh, managed to source a specific brand of local coffee we mentioned in passing within two hours. While the price is steep, the level of seclusion and the quality of the breakfast—featuring a world-class Pho station and artisanal pastries—justify the investment. It is the only resort in Central Vietnam that truly competes on a global 'palace' level.
Pros
- + Unrivaled villa privacy with private butler service
- + Exceptional kid's club and family-oriented programming
- + The 'Cooking Academy' is the best culinary school in the region
Cons
- − Significant distance from the Ancient Town (15-min drive)
- − The tiered pool area can lack shade in midday heat

#2 · Heritage enthusiasts who want to walk to dinner.
Anantara Hoi An Resort
Anantara is for the traveler who wants to be in the heart of the action without sacrificing serenity. We loved the split-level suite design which provided a distinct living area. The concierge team successfully secured us a last-minute tailoring appointment at the height of Tet celebrations, demonstrating their deep local roots. The spa, while smaller than TIA's, offers a sublime 'Vietnamese Massage' that rank among the city's best. It’s the most sophisticated urban-resort hybrid in Hoi An.
Pros
- + Premier location walking distance to the Japanese Bridge
- + Elegant colonial-style architecture and lush gardens
- + Excellent riverfront dining at 'Art Space'
Cons
- − Small gym facilities compared to beach resorts
- − River view rooms can be subject to boat engine noise

#3 · Wellness seekers who prioritize inclusions and relaxation.
TIA Wellness Resort
TIA has successfully pivoted from the old 'Fusion' brand into a sophisticated wellness retreat. The inclusion of daily treatments makes this surprisingly good value for spa lovers. We tested their 'anywhere' breakfast at 4:30 PM by the pool, and the service was as prompt and polished as a 7:30 AM seating. The villa interiors are clean and bright, though the white-on-white palette requires meticulous maintenance that they occasionally miss in high-traffic corners.
Pros
- + Two spa treatments per person per day included in rate
- + 'Breakfast anywhere, anytime' policy is flawlessly executed
- + All-villa accommodation with private plunge pools
Cons
- − Minimalist design can feel 'cold' to some travelers
- − The beach is subject to seasonal erosion issues

#4 · Design-forward travelers and couples seeking romantic atmosphere.
Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery
This is the most stylish stay in Hoi An. The 'Sotaro' brand of rooms is particularly striking. We were impressed by the evening turndown service, which included local tea and a handwritten folklore story. While it lacks the sprawling grounds of The Nam Hai, it makes up for it with proximity to the town’s best bars and a service staff that feels energetic and personalized. Ideal for a high-end long weekend.
Pros
- + Exceptional rooftop bar (The Deck) with 360-degree views
- + High-concept interior design blending Japanese and French styles
- + Located on the quiet side of the river suite for evening walks
Cons
- − The pool area is small and can feel crowded by 4:00 PM
- − Standard rooms are smaller than the beach resorts

#5 · Modern luxury with a competitive price point.
Bay Resort Hoi An
Bay Resort is the 'value play' for 2026. Because it is newer, the rooms feel fresher than almost anywhere else in town. We found the insulation to be top-tier, completely muting the sound of river traffic. The 'Olive Tree' restaurant served some of the best grilled seafood we had during our entire trip. While it doesn't have the heritage 'soul' of the Anantara, it offers a more contemporary, efficient luxury experience for the savvy traveler.
Pros
- + Brand new hardware with state-of-the-art room tech
- + Fantastic Mediterranean-leaning culinary program
- + Unbeatable views of the Ancient Town skyline from the pool
Cons
- − The surrounding area is still undergoing some development
- − Lacks the historical pedigree of older properties
