The seven Allegris variants — and why it matters
Allegris is Lufthansa's 2024 cabin reset across long-haul, and the most architecturally complex Business Class product launched by any carrier in the past decade. Rather than ship a single Business seat, Lufthansa specified seven distinct variants within the Business cabin alone: standard Allegris (78-inch bed, 21-inch width, no door), Allegris Privacy (sliding door added), Allegris Long Bed (extra leg-extension for tall passengers, marketed at 195cm+), Allegris Window (1A/K window-suites with the highest privacy), Allegris Extra Space (the throne — single seat with twin armrests, no neighbour), Allegris Suite (full-door enclosed micro-room equivalent to QSuite or Polaris with door), and Allegris Suite Plus (the row-1 cabin — fully enclosed 1.95m door, separate bed, sliding partition to adjacent suite for the row-1 double-bed configuration). Suite Plus is a First Class product sold under Business Class branding, with First Class pricing to match.
Rollout status and aircraft footprint
Allegris rollout in 2026 sits at roughly 40% complete across long-haul. The A350-900 fleet ex-Munich is fully Allegris-equipped (introduced May 2024); the A380 ex-Munich fleet completed Allegris retrofit in March 2026; the 747-8 fleet ex-Frankfurt is mid-retrofit with completion scheduled for late 2026; the 777-9 deliveries (delayed multiple times) are now scheduled from Q3 2026 with full Allegris from day one. Key Allegris routes in 2026: Munich to Chicago, New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bangalore, Bangkok, Tokyo; Frankfurt to São Paulo, Singapore, Beijing (A380); selected JFK and ORD frequencies ex-Frankfurt as 747-8 retrofits enter service. Suite Plus — the row-1 product
Allegris Suite Plus is the only Business Class product in commercial aviation that genuinely matches Qsuite's couple configuration while exceeding it on space. The Suite Plus enclosed module measures 41 square feet (versus Qsuite's 38), the door is a true floor-to-ceiling enclosure (1.95m versus Qsuite's 1.5m), and the row-1 pair (seats 1D/1G) merges into a queen-size double bed by retracting the partition wall — a configuration honed for couple travel that Lufthansa Business now markets directly to the leisure-traveller premium segment. The catch: Suite Plus carries a paid surcharge above the base Allegris fare (EUR 700–1,400 each way, depending on route and load), or a 25,000-mile premium on Miles & More award tickets. Only two Suite Plus suites per A350; book at the booking moment if it matters.
Soft product — the German cuisine reset
Champagne is Henriot Brut Souverain on Business Class long-haul — a meaningful upgrade over the legacy Pommery pour, though still a step below the Krug/Salon top tier on Asian carriers. The on-demand dining model introduced with Allegris breaks Lufthansa's historic timed-service rigidity: light bites and the proper main meal are both available within a four-hour service window in either direction of the long-haul, with on-board galley capacity for à la carte preparation. The Allegris menu rotates monthly with the Star Chefs partnership (Tim Raue, Tanja Grandits, Anton Schmaus on current rotation) — the meal quality is now competitive with Air France first-class review and ahead of British Airways, which is the single biggest qualitative shift in European long-haul Business in the past five years.
Ground experience
The Munich Satellite Senator Lounge is the strongest Lufthansa Business-tier ground product (the First Class Terminal at Frankfurt is reserved for First Class passengers and HON Circle members). At Frankfurt, the Z gates Business Lounge is comfortable but oversubscribed; the Schengen pre-security Senator Lounge is the better pick for Schengen-connecting passengers. On US arrivals, Lufthansa retains lounge partnerships with United Polaris Lounges at major hubs — the Newark Polaris Lounge is a genuine high-quality arrival product.
Award redemption strategy
Miles & More own-currency pricing on Allegris is 105,000 miles one-way FRA/MUC-USA in standard Business, 130,000 miles in Suite Plus. The arbitrage plays: Avianca LifeMiles at 63,000 miles one-way (the cheapest Star Alliance redemption for European long-haul), Aeroplan at 70,000 miles one-way for fixed mixed-cabin pricing, or Turkish Miles&Smiles at 45,000 miles one-way (phone-bookings only, frequent transfer bonuses from Citi ThankYou Points). Star Alliance award space on Allegris flights has been historically tight in 2024–2025 but loosened meaningfully in early 2026 as rollout expanded — book at the 11-month window for the highest reliability.
